Grimsby Photographic Society was founded in 1894 and is the oldest society in Lincolnshire. We have over 40 members at present with skill levels from novice to professional. Our members interests cover most genres of photography including landscape, portraiture, sport  and nature, in monochrome as well as colour. A few members are also adept at creative photography.

We are a very friendly and welcoming society and our aim is to provide something for everyone, whether you are starting out on your photographic journey or are already an advanced photographer. The Society also operates a mentoring system to help members improve their photography skills.

Our programme of events, like most photographic societies, comprises a mixture of speakers, both visiting and in-house; competitions; tuition evenings and social evenings. We also have annual exhibitions of members' work which are open to view by the public. In the warmer months we have a number of “outshoots”, an opportunity for members to get together to take photographs at locations normally closed to the public.

Some members have received photographic distinctions for their work either by assessment or by entering national and international exhibitions. Members seeking distinctions are given every encouragement and advice from those more experienced. The Society also enters photographs in regional and national competitions and has had considerable success in the last few years, particularly within Lincolnshire.

We meet most Thursdays, 7.30pm at the United Reformed Church, Weelsby Road, Grimsby.
